Imber Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Imber email client application for macOS and iOS ("the App"), developed by Doette Inc. ("we", "us", "our"). By using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using Imber, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Imber is a native email client for macOS and iOS that connects to Gmail and iCloud (IMAP) accounts. The App provides email management features and optional AI-powered email classification using the Anthropic Claude API.

3. Account Access and Credentials

  • Imber accesses your email accounts using OAuth (Gmail) or app-specific passwords (iCloud/IMAP) that you provide.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your email account credentials.
  • You must have the right to access any email account you connect to Imber.
  • All email data and credentials are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your email accounts or messages.

4. AI Classification Feature

  • Imber offers optional AI-powered email classification via the Anthropic Claude API. This feature is entirely opt-in.
  • To use AI classification, you must provide your own Anthropic API key.
  • When enabled, email content is sent to Anthropic's API for classification. Anthropic's API does not retain input data for model training.
  • You are responsible for any costs associated with your Anthropic API usage. Imber provides budget controls to help manage usage.
  • We make no guarantees about the accuracy or reliability of AI classification results.
  • You are responsible for complying with Anthropic's usage policies when using the AI feature.

5. Google API Services

Imber's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • Gmail data is used only to provide email functionality to the user.
  • Data is not transferred to third parties except as needed for app functionality (Anthropic API for classification, which is opt-in).
  • Data is not used for advertising or sold to data brokers.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App to send spam, phishing, or unsolicited bulk email.
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of your email provider's terms of service.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
  • Use the App to transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful content.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality.

7. Data and Privacy

  • All email data is stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your email.
  • You can remove any connected account at any time, which deletes all locally cached data for that account.
  • You can revoke the App's access to your Google account at any time via Google Account settings.

8. Intellectual Property

The Imber name, logo, and app design are the property of Doette Inc. You may not use our trademarks without written permission. The Imber software is proprietary.

9. Disclaimers

  • Imber is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with all email providers or configurations.
  • We are not responsible for the content of emails sent or received through the App.
  • We are not responsible for any loss of email data. The App operates as a client to your existing email accounts; your email provider remains the authoritative source of your email data.
  • AI classification results are provided for convenience only and may be inaccurate. You should not rely solely on AI classification for important email management decisions.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Doette Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, missed emails, incorrect email classification, or unauthorized access to your accounts.

11. Termination

  • You may stop using Imber at any time by uninstalling the App.
  • Uninstalling removes all locally stored data, credentials, and cached emails.
  • We reserve the right to discontinue the App at any time with reasonable notice.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of Imber after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
