Imber Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how Imber ("the App"), developed by Doette Inc., collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our email client application for macOS and iOS.

Data Collection

Imber collects and accesses the following information:

Email address and profile information (name, profile picture) obtained via Google OAuth sign-in.
Email messages, labels, and metadata accessed via the Gmail API to provide email functionality.
iCloud/IMAP account credentials (app-specific passwords) entered by the user to connect non-Gmail accounts.

Data Storage — On-Device Only

All email data is stored locally on the user's device using local storage and caching.
API keys (Anthropic, account credentials) are stored in the device Keychain.
No user email data is transmitted to or stored on Doette Inc. servers.
There is no server-side database of user emails.

Third-Party Data Sharing

Anthropic API: Email content may be sent to Anthropic's Claude API for AI-powered classification. Anthropic's API does not retain input data for model training. This feature is opt-in — the user must provide their own Anthropic API key and explicitly enable classification.
Google APIs: The App uses the Gmail API to read, send, and manage emails. Data flows directly between the user's device and Google's servers.
No other third-party data sharing. User data is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.

Google API Scopes Used

Imber requests the following Google API scopes:

gmail.readonly — Read email messages and metadata
gmail.modify — Modify labels, archive, mark as read/unread
gmail.send — Send emails on behalf of the user
gmail.labels — Create and manage custom labels
userinfo.email — Access user's email address
userinfo.profile — Access user's name and profile picture

Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance

Imber's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

The App only uses Gmail data to provide email functionality to the user.
Data is not transferred to third parties except as needed for app functionality (Anthropic API for classification, which is opt-in).
Data is not used for advertising or sold to data brokers.
Human access to user data is limited to debugging with user consent.

Data Deletion

Users can remove their accounts from the App at any time, which deletes all locally cached data.
Users can revoke the App's access to their Google account at any time via Google Account settings.

Children's Privacy

Imber is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
