Doette Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Doette mobile applications for iOS and Android ("the Apps") and the doette.com web platform ("the Platform"), operated by Doette Inc. ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Apps or Platform, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Doette, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Doette.

2. Accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • One account per person. Do not share accounts or create multiple accounts.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. User Content

Doette allows you to create, publish, and share recipes, posts, comments, photos, and other content ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content. By posting User Content on Doette, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, sublicensable, transferable, and perpetual license to use, copy, host, display, distribute, and reformat your User Content as part of the Doette service.

  • You are solely responsible for your User Content.
  • You must have the right to share any content you post (including recipes, photos, and text).
  • Do not post content that infringes on others' intellectual property rights.
  • We may remove User Content that violates these Terms.

Content Retention

When you publish User Content on Doette, it becomes part of the shared community experience. Other users may have bookmarked, commented on, or otherwise interacted with your content.

If you delete your account, we will remove your personal identifiers (such as your name and email address) from our active systems. However, published User Content may be retained in anonymized or de-identified form to preserve the integrity of the community and the experience of other users. Such retained content will no longer be associated with your personal identity. Unpublished drafts will be deleted along with your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Post content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or obscene.
  • Impersonate any person or entity.
  • Use the service to send spam, unsolicited messages, or bulk communications.
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or private content without authorization.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service, servers, or networks.
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the service.
  • Use the service for any commercial purpose not expressly permitted.

5. Privacy and Follow System

  • Content marked "Anyone" is visible to all logged-in users.
  • Content marked "Followers Only" is visible only to approved followers.
  • Draft content is private and visible only to the author.
  • You can control who follows you by accepting or rejecting follow requests.

6. Intellectual Property

The Doette name, logo, and app design are the property of Doette Inc. You may not use our trademarks without written permission. The Doette software (excluding User Content) is proprietary.

7. Third-Party Services

  • Doette uses Mailgun for email delivery and OpenAI for optional AI features on the web platform.
  • Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms.
  • We are not responsible for the availability or practices of third-party services.

8. Disclaimers

  • Doette is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
  • Recipe content is user-generated. We make no representations about the accuracy, safety, or suitability of any recipe. Always use your own judgment when cooking.
  • We are not responsible for any adverse outcomes from following recipes posted on the platform.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Doette Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or personal injury.

10. Termination

  • You may stop using Doette at any time by deleting your account or uninstalling the app.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.
  • Published User Content may be retained in anonymized form as described in the Content Retention section above. Unpublished drafts will be deleted.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of Doette after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
