Doette Mobile App Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how the Doette mobile apps for iOS and Android ("the Apps"), developed by Doette Inc., collect, use, and protect your information. The Apps connect to the doette.com web platform to provide recipe sharing and social cooking features.

Data Collection

The Doette mobile apps collect and access the following information:

• Account credentials — email address and password, entered by the user to sign in to their doette.com account.
• Profile information — name and profile photo, which the user can view and edit.
• Recipe and post content — text, images, tags, and privacy settings for recipes and posts created by the user.
• Social interactions — likes, comments, follow requests, and bookmarks.
• Photos — images selected by the user from their camera or photo library for recipe photos and profile avatars.

Data Storage

• Server-side: Recipe content, profile information, and social interactions are stored on the doette.com server (Google Cloud Platform) as part of the user's doette.com account. This is the same data accessible via the web platform.
• On-device: Authentication tokens are stored securely on the device (iOS Keychain / Android EncryptedSharedPreferences). Cached images are stored temporarily on the device for performance.
• No additional data collection: The mobile apps do not collect any data beyond what the doette.com web platform collects. The apps are a native interface to the same backend.

Third-Party Data Sharing

• Doette Inc. servers: All app data flows between the user's device and doette.com servers over HTTPS. This is the core functionality of the app.
• Mailgun: The doette.com platform uses Mailgun to send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, weekly reminders, follow notifications). The user's email address is shared with Mailgun for this purpose.
• OpenAI: The web platform offers optional AI-assisted recipe features via OpenAI. This is not available in the mobile apps.
• No other third-party data sharing. There are no analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, crash reporters, or tracking libraries in the mobile apps. User data is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Device Permissions Used

Authentication

• The mobile apps authenticate via email and password, the same credentials used on doette.com.
• A session token (Bearer token) is returned upon successful login and stored securely on the device.
• The token is sent with each API request over HTTPS.
• Logging out removes the stored token from the device.

Data Deletion

• Users can log out of the app at any time, which removes the stored authentication token and cached data from the device.
• Users can edit or remove their profile information from within the app.
• Account deletion requests can be made by contacting info@doette.com.
• Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data including cached images and authentication tokens.

Retention of User-Generated Content

When you publish content on Doette — including recipes, posts, comments, and images — that content becomes part of the shared community experience. Other users may have bookmarked, commented on, or otherwise relied upon your content.

If you request deletion of your account or personal information, we will remove your personal identifiers (such as your name and email address) from our active systems. However, published content may be retained in anonymized or de-identified form to preserve the integrity of the community and the experience of other users. Such retained content will no longer be associated with your personal identity. Unpublished drafts will be deleted along with your account.

Children's Privacy

Doette is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, you must ask your parent or guardian for permission to use this application.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
